Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give ---Unknown
I talk a lot about kindness, I try to emulate kindness, and I try to teach my daughter about the great impact kindness has upon individuals…no matter how small the act. I have been strongly impacted by kindness…especially lately, and I want to perpetuate for others the feeling that experiencing kindness creates. There is nothing more rewarding than doing something kind to brighten someone’s day. There is no greater act of gratitude than paying forward the kindness that one has been shown. Thus, the birth of a new idea.
I have had an idea rolling about in my head for quite some time. However, if you ask The Bibbed Wonder, my ideas are often impractical, complex, or irrational. The Bibbed Wonder being the captain of logic and myself being the one who leads with the heart and impulsiveness, often cannot come to an agreement in negotiations as to what can be done. We have finally come to an agreement on an idea for what I like to call a Kindness Campaign. This idea is driven by what I feel is a need for more kindness, a way for individuals to affordably spread kindness, and a need for something not only useful and helpful but also unique and special.
Because I love to interact with my soap family and my soap family is comprised of kind, supportive, creative, and unique individuals; the soaps for the kindness campaign are going to be products of your imagination. I have months planned with themes of goodness and I will ask my insightful soap family for input. For example, if kindness had a scent, what would it be? If kindness were a color, what color would it be? I will also ask you to share your stories of kindness to support your ideas. I will ask permission to share these ideas and stories on my web page, Facebook, and Instagram. I envision creating a kindness army and blowing up social media with positivity and goodness. Just an aside, after I read some of my musings, I see why The Bibbed Wonder considers me idealistic, impractical, and irrational. I don’t care, it’s part of my charm…insert laughter.
However, I feel it necessary to turn up the kindness dial and also ask for ideas on charities which speak to my soap family. I would like to donate a percentage of the proceeds to charities that hold meaning to our community and our soap family. I would like to keep the charities local, small, and unique to our needs as a small community. I would also like to ask for ideas where donations of products would be beneficial to our community. With the outpouring of support we receive, I feel like we need to pay it forward and keep the kindness wheel in motion.
One last component to the Kindness Campaign is sharing. Sharing smiles, sharing support, sharing a kind word, sharing a random act of pure goodness are all things we are capable of doing. With that being said, if you are an online family member and you have placed an online order, you know we incorporate a few extras with each order. As a small business owner, I know there are literally thousands of options for handmade products. The fact that you choose me and my company to share your support does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. A few extra bars of soap are the least I can do to show my appreciation for you. In my notes, I suggest you choose to enjoy the extra soaps or share them with someone who may need a small pick me up, a little piece of brightness, or a random act of kindness. The kindness campaign will be based on that principal. When you order one bar of soap, you will be given two. One for you and hopefully, one for you to pass on and share with someone who could use it. Let’s work together to keep the kindness wheel moving forward.
This is also a campaign to arm all with the tools necessary to fight this virus thing. Like kindness, small acts work to keep us healthy and safe. The small act of washing one’s hands can keep all kinds of germs and bacteria at bay. Frequent hand washing is a good habit to develop in all times, not just during a pandemic. However, this small act can now work to keep one and those one loves healthy and safe. This is a multifaceted campaign but all facets are with the best of intentions. Again, there are times I see why The Bibbed Wonder considers my ideas complicated and complex. Alas, it is part of my charm he just never seems to truly appreciate…sigh.
Unlike The Bibbed Wonder, I enjoy and appreciate ideas. I would love to have any feedback, insight or suggestions you may have to improve my idea for a kindness campaign. As always dear reader, stay safe, stay smart, keep the wheel of kindness in motion, and keep washing your hands.
